frankly, i dont know much about 3g (makes me wonder how i got my diploma in computer science ).. but the monopoly would still not matter, even with a 3g iphone. everybody can still have 3g, right?

But then you'd have to jailbreak it and lose the warranty/Applecare (ie the benefits of having an "official" iphone) if you want to use a non-Globe carrier. I'm assuming Globe would release an iPhone that was sim-locked to them like AT&T in the US.

Well, based on this (http://www.philmug.ph/forum/showthre...ht=globe+smart), it seems that Globe is the mobile carrier of choice of PhilMuggers. Globe = 68%, Smart=27% and Sun=5%.

Man, this is great news...locked up period for my current phone will expire late this year...in time for the iPhone's release!

Guys, I suggest we wait for the official announcement regarding exclusivity.

Didn't read through the whole thread yet - has somebody already mentioned that Globe's marketing campaign should be called Globe HandiPhone?

Any Globe trollers - I want a royalty fee is this is used

I agree. We know it's official, but we still don't know if it's exclusive.

So let's just wait and see. Let's wait for further announcements from Globe, or perhaps from Smart (if they will carry it or not).
