My Dad just got back his Macbook from Powermac (megamall) the keyboard was completely replaced because some keys weren't working. The LCD screen was also replaced because the hinges were making a squeaking noise. Hmm, the noise is still there but not as loud as before.

im planning to buy a new airport extreme base station tomorrow... but i'm leaning on just going with a cheap non-apple router just so i don't have to lose money in the long run...

what do you guys think?
from apple's website:
http://www.apple.com/support/products/proplan.html

The AppleCare Protection Plan covers your Mac, as well as an AirPort Extreme Card, an AirPort Express or AirPort Extreme Base Station, and Apple RAM used with your Mac. Mac mini, Mac Pro, Power Mac, MacBook Pro, and PowerBook customers may also register one Apple display for coverage, provided that the Mac and the display are purchased together.

...does this mean if i get applecare for my macbook, my airport base station will be covered in the extended 2 years warranty as well?

The policy says "if" you bought the macbook and airport base station and applecare all at the same time then the base station will be covered. I also confirmed this policy thru one of microwarehouse's employee.

hmm does the computer and airport extreme base station have to be purchased simultaneously? or just withing a certian time frame? if i knew that i would of bought the base station along with my wifes macbook at the apple store in SoHo NY two weeks ago!

this information isnt really made totally transparent... with that kind of logic apple could make a lot more money on one time big time purchases...

ok i spoke to the apple store. here's what they said:

"AppleCare will cover the AirPort Extreme Base Station for it's first year for hardware and anytime within the Mac's 3 years for software/phone support. and that they dont have to be purchased at the same time."

wow this is great news. i'm definately getting the new airport extreme now. and i'll pick up a copy of the applecare for the macbook for total coverage!

Wow! Good for you! Now I'm really going to get Apple Care for my MacBook Pro.

P.S. Did you get the Santa Rosa MacBook Pro?

Replaced the casing due to slight flaking of the paint (classic problem of TiBooks), replaced my 30GB Hard Disk and got a new power adapter that got "burned" same case as Elbert I guess and my battery replaced.

In short: LCD is 40K x 3 = 120K, Power Adapter 3.6K, HD 3K for a total of 126,600 pesos and battery for 5,700 , minus apple care 16,000 for a sulit na sulit 116,300 savings. AYOS!!!

Everything is working fine up to this time. And battery life is still at 2.5-3 hrs.

Forgot to mention, the top case which makes my TiBook still looking like new is not even in the equation.
i think there is something in app that says when your unit has been repaired 3 times and is still problematic, you are eligible for replacement.
when you got your lcd replaced 3 times you could apply for replacement aredy
me thinks
