What do you do when a Major Philippine Newspaper Violates your copyright?

Story here Major Daily Violates Photographer's Copyright

I was contacted early this month but still no response.. they say they are still "investigating"...

Man that sucks. I know the feeling, unfortunately I can't sue the different companies that have ripped off my work around 3-4 times since they're abroad.

Your course of action as suggested by your legal advisers are just right. Good luck in settling the case and I hope everybody gets wind of this, especially photographer-bloggers.

you can still run after them if they are abroad, send them a bill!

i have forwarded this to some photographers forums.. story has even been picked up by ABS-CBN Interactive .. story here

This is the only thing i can go for now.. get the story out so people will know..

hi togi, I've read this story of yours awhile back from a photo-forum (dunno kung dpphoto or ph-photo). hanggang ngayon ba wala pang update?

no feedback yet!

That is why am writing it again.. til hopefully someone picks it up again and helps me... Manila Bulletin said they would answer within a week... 2 weeks has passed still no feed back or reply...

  • (b) Periodicals and newspapers;
  • (c) Lectures, sermons, addresses, dissertations prepared for oral delivery, whether or not reduced in writing or other material form;

  • (e) Dramatic or dramatico-musical compositions; choreographic works or entertainment in dumb shows;
  • (f) Musical compositions, with or without words;
  • (g) Works of drawing, painting, architecture, sculpture, engraving, lithography or other works of art; models or designs for works of art;
  • (h) Original ornamental designs or models for articles of manufacture, whether or not registrable as an industrial design, and other works of applied art;
  • (i) Illustrations, maps, plans, sketches, charts and three-dimensional works relative to geography, topography, architecture or science;
  • (j) Drawings or plastic works of a scientific or technical character;
  • (k) Photographic works including works produced by a process analogous to photography; lantern slides;
  • (l) Audiovisual works and cinematographic works and works produced by a process analogous to cinematography or any process for making audio-visual recordings;
  • (m) Pictorial illustrations and advertisements;
  • (n) Computer programs; and
  • (o) Other literary, scholarly, scientific and artistic works.
172.2. Works are protected by the sole fact of their creation, irrespective of their mode or form of expression, as well as of their content, quality and purpose. (Sec. 2, P. D. No. 49a)

Thank Kaffee! I already have counsel and waiting for Manila Bulletin to respond to my Letter.
