Report: Apple plans iTunes for Japan
Apple Computer, the maker of Macintosh computers and iPod digital music players, plans to start a music download service in Japan by March 2005.
The Nihon Keizai newspaper reported Thursday that Apple aims to offer more than 100,000 songs with an emphasis on Japanese music at its iTunes Music Store, which is expected to be the largest music download service in Japan.
Consumers would be able to buy songs from the virtual store, download them onto their computers and then transfer the songs to their iPod players.
Apple already offers similar iTunes services in the United States and Europe.
