Apple pares AirPort Extreme prices
Apple Computer on Monday quietly cut the price of its AirPort Extreme base station and card. The base station price drops from $249 to $199, while the cost of a card that goes inside a laptop or desktop went from $99 to $79.
Apple last month announced the $129 AirPort Express, which acts as an 802.11g wireless base station and allows people to stream music from a Mac located in another room. While the Express version is dramatically cheaper than the Extreme, even with this week's price cut, the Extreme does have a few additional capabilities. For example, it can connect to Macs via either wired or wireless connections.

Wait if you have time to wait. It may reflect in a month or two... I'm one of the albook users who've been holding off buying an extreme card, but with the adjustment... I think soon is several nights away.

It's too bad they discontinued the basic (w/o antenna) $199 AEBS. It would have been great to see a $149 AEBS.
