Apple colour-screen \'PhotoPod\' said to be in production
The iPod looks set to make a further step into PDA territory if claims that Apple is preparing a 60GB model equipped with a 2in colour display and iPhoto synchronisation prove correct.
"Highly reliable" sources cited by ThinkSecret claim that the new model is currently in production, presumably for a pre-Christmas introduction, and will make photo viewing a key feature.
The new machine is said to be based on Toshiba's recently announced 1.8in 60GB hard drive, but that was always a logical move given Apple's long-time partnership with Toshiba for iPod hard drives. The colour screen is more interesting, since it's somewhat contrary to one of the iPod's key selling points: its simplicity.

If this were really true, my mom would be SO delighted to finally have a portable photo album.
Still... I think the whole "PhotoPod" feature veers slightly away from the iPod's core. But that's just me.

Here's an "exclusive" report from ThinkSecret with more details.

If this is true, I know what I want for Christmas. Egad! iPhoto synchronization, and slideshows on external TVs with accompanying music from the iPod. And while listening to ordinary MP3s, the album artwork will appear on the display ... I love it!

iPhoto synchronization would be a very much welcome move. Might just be the technology that turns Kodak's business around. People bringing their entire photo collection for printing hard copies at photo shops.

this is so so so so cool. it's exactly what I want and have been wanting for a long time! Because I'm so reliant on iPhoto, i've been saving each and every one of my photos on my hard disk! Needless to say, kawawa naman ang hard disk ko.
I guess this means that we all know what's on my christmas wish list. and Vic's, I'm sure. ;-)

I think I'll hold off til video can be streamed to an external TV or monitor is possible.
I don't actually want to view it on a 2" screen (or even a 4" LCD).
