Re: WiTricity (wireless electricity)
This is fantastic. The end of the (toxic) battery is a now real possibility.

Ya, I saw this feature on CNN the other day and I wonder when this may actually become a reality.

I'm not too sure about this technology. If we're worried about fractions of a watt from Wi-Fi and cellphones causing brain tumors, I wonder what effect tens of watts buzzing through your bedroom will have.

Going green really has it's benefits, I hope they perfect this technology, make it efficient, and safe. I agree with Eric Giler, wires do $%#K!

Re: WiTricity (wireless electricity)
I doubt very much if this "Wonder" tech will be commercialized anytime soon. The health questions are just too important to be left unanswered. In certain places in Europe, many communities have demanded the pull-out of cellular towers on grounds that it is possibly harmful to the health of people. Also, I'm not too sure if such a device would even be safe for, say, those with pacemakers.
What I found interesting in the linked article are the comments. It seems that Tesla experimented with this type of technology in the 1900s. So, it is not exactly new or revolutionary.
Let the scientific community resolve these health issues first, then just maybe this type of device will soon see the light of day.

Um, my rechargeable toothbrush uses this technology already. So does the new Treo. The only difference is the power and range/reach. That said, commercialization of a higher-powered version seems inevitable.
Would I use it? Yes and no. Yes for low-powered versions (5-foot radius maybe); and no in places where people spend hours in--bedrooms, living room, home office (which ironically will be the most practical place for this). Prolonged exposure to the negligible is, well, not negligible.
Would be nice though if they can develop a safe, wireless alternative to all the ugliness dangling from street lamp posts! Technology to correct mistakes made by our chronically myopic and genetically clueless zoning legislators and "urban planners".
