Think Secret reports:
July 14, 2004 - Apple will announce new iPod models in August, reliable sources have confirmed to Think Secret. The new models will be smaller, sleeker, and will come in a variety of colors.

The new iPod models will reportedly be more compact and have been described as similar to the iPod mini in design, but will still possess features found only in the existing white-colored model.

Am buying if the next iPod would have the following:

• Wireless - Bluetooth for remote control, WiFi for sending music to your stereo wirelessly via Airport Express and for directly streaming iTunes radio from a base station.

• FM radio

• Digital output on the dock - The signal from the current line out is still to low for my tastes. But the output from my CD player is a lot better.

July 17, 2004 - Apple will announce new models of its standard 'white' iPods on Monday, Think Secret has learned.

According to sources, the company plans to unveil thinner, sleeker white iPods with a major announcement on Monday, July 19. While the enclosure will be the same general size as that of current iPods, it will be thinner; it will also have a new scroll wheel of different style and look.

I'm currently in possession of a silver Mini - and the scroll wheel is the next best thing on it, second to the form factor. It combines the best aspects of the old mechanical wheel and the newer touch wheel. I'm ruing the fact that my current 3rd Gen doesn't have it, but I'm excited at the prospect of an even better one; I wonder what else they can do to improve it. It might be enough to make me upgrade yet again. :P
