Default RadTech Bluetooth Mouse (2 buttons! Scroll wheel!)

    RadTech BT500 Bluetooth mouse

It looks like the bastard offspring of a Logitech Mouseman Traveler (size, two buttons and a scroll wheel) and an Apple Bluetooth mouse (color, wireless function), but I’m not complaining. I loved the Apple BT mouse, but I could never give up the two buttons and the scroll wheel that I got used to when using other mice.

Yesterday I got a text from Howard of Games & Gadgets telling me that they had the RadTech BT500 mouse in stock. After a quick look at the reviews posted on different Mac sites, I texted back asking him to reserve a white one (there’s a blue/silver/black version as well) for me.

The mouse is small, but not uncomfortable to use. It’s about two thirds as long and as wide as the Apple BT mouse, and conveniently costs about two-thirds the price as well (P3,500). Pairing was pretty straightforward, and it functions as advertised. I turned of the mouse and put the computer to sleep, then turned both back on, and there were no problems re-establishing the connection (I didn’t have to re-pair).

I had been looking for a BT mouse with these features, and I am glad that there’s finally one available locally. Parang napaaga ang pasko.

How does your mouse's battery last?

I had mine for a little more than two weeks and it's already drained 4 sets of batteries on me... so now I just switched back to my black MacMice mouse.

My usage is about 8 - 10 hrs a day (at the office) and prob a few more at home whilst using it less on weekends.

Yep, color blue is available. Actually, blue is the only color that's available now since all of the white ones has already been reserved, but for those who want the white colored one, new stocks will arrive probably in 2 weeks time (or maybe less). The silver ones will be available in 3 to 4 weeks time.

    Hi 'Insan Jason,

When you're using your BT mouse w/ your PowerBook, does it prevent you from receiving or sending SMS via Address Book?

Always thought that only one active BT connection was allowed at any given time.

P.S. Does that mean you're no longer using your Apple BT Mouse?

@cutiepanda: I've had it for less than a day pa lang so I really can't tell. I spend about 5 hours a day on the computer, and I use a mouse only during half of that. So I guess it won't be a problem for me. For those who spend more time on the computer, maybe that would be a problem...

@Arel: I never actually owned an Apple BT mouse. I used one for a week, but only rarely as I was less productive with it, spending quite a bit of time cursing the lack of a right button and a scroll wheel So, I don't have an Apple BT mouse that I don't use. What I don't use now is my Logitech Mouseman Traveler.

I have no problems maintaining a BT connection to both my phone (T68i, with Blue Phone Menu) and the BT mouse at the same time. I'm actually wondering if I can connect three devices at the same time (a BT headset for iChat conversations). I might give that a try later...
