Read the above with that proverbial grain of salt. The counterpoint plus other models across the "line":

But who knows, eh? The PBook G5's on the way, no doubt about that - it's inevitable. But to expect it as soon as next week's WWDC? Doubtful (but welcome).

Give a guy the MyriadApple font and see him make a fake PR. I doubt this is real. One giveaway is the fact that Apple includes ™ and ® symbols in its own brands and products ONLY. It would not write Radeon® Mobility™ that way.

Also, PRs are meant to be in printed form, so hyperlinks are useless. Apple has yet to have a PR with hyperlinks. This PR has live links to iChat AV, Shake 4 and Final Cut Pro 5.

Lastly, Apple will not have Press releases with typos. Conposite? nice try.

a 17" screen with a 1920x1200 resolution?? Hmmm wouldn't that be a strain on the eyes?

    The specs are impressive though

    Default C\'mon, guys, get serious.

I didn't even bother reading past the title to know this was a fake.

"Apple Announces PowerBook G5 for August Availibility
The Highly Anticipitated G5 Portables are Here, Featuring Low-power G5 Processors and HD Screens Across the Line"

For one thing, this so called press release misspelled
availability and anticipated (anticipitated, snork snork snork).

If I were Steve Jobs and I had this guy writing my press releases, I'd be bankrupt by now.

A fake PowerBook G5 press release is making the rounds, which has been engineered to appear to have been posted at Apple's site, but is not.

The fake url page begins with http://64.233.167.104 making it appear to be a Google cache address, but uses a form of url masking to redirect the user to a different site.

I would say its a fake. I think Apple will release multi-core powerbooks way before it releases a G5 powerbook.

Less heat issues, and possibly even faster than a single core G5 powerbook.

System-wide support for multiple and multi-core processors is one of the reasons Apple made the switch to OS X.

Under Mac Classic, multi-processor macs were unable to maximize their power, only specific applications such as Photoshop were able to use the second processor.

From discussion I had with two apple suppliers in HK, they both said that it was unlikely that a G5 pbook would come out this year because of heat issues. They did mention what Maccess said which was that multicore pbooks was the most likely way for the pbook to go. I myself continue to have heat issues with my pbook 15 1.67 ghz. Especially after I burn a cd or rip some audio cd's for itunes. My pbook gets so hot that I can't even place it on my lap.
