    Default Mac Pro this WWDC??

    Will these rumors be true? Mac Pro - formerly Power Mac. Powered by Core 2 Duo, same config as the former, Dual and Dual dual=quad. Also new enclosure na.

    As the MBP will have those new chips na din it will also have a new enclosure daw..
    Can't wait for the new design's as the speed bump is already proven to Mac products.

    just read this thing over the net..well i hope its true, pero more depriciating price to our current Mac's due to Core 2 Duo..

    Oh, the Apple name game.

    Here's my guess. It's very likely that the PowerMac successor will have the same name, just like like the iMac and Mac mini. When you think about it, only the PowerBooks and iBooks got their names changed and I suspect it's because neither had the name 'Mac' in them.

    PowerMac quad core sounds right to me.

    but PowerMac got its name from the PowerPC chip, right?

    my guess:

    MacBook = MacBook Pro
    iMac = iMac Pro

    Since they arent built on PowerPC chips, and since the original Macs were just known as Macs I'd personally prefer them going back to the basics and call them Mac. Changing the moniker after the Mac will differentiate the models just like they did in the past - Mac Classic, Mac II, Mac LC, Mac Centris and now Mac Quad Core. I especially like the use of 'Core' because that's whats in the center of every apple.

    I wish they'd stop naming products just for the sake of calling it a "Mac" already. Just call the next PowerMac a Macintosh or name it after a person like the old days.

    Though you have a point. I also agree, that the name "power" came from the power pc line. so im doubting if apple would use PowerMac in its new intel desktop.
