Design flaws and manufacturing flaws are two very different things. Even if the product was flawlessly designed, the factory build quality will ultimately determine the product's own quality. This is clearly not Apple's fault, in fact, it is very responsible of them to acknowledge the build problems and provide a workaround.

manufacture.

it does get very hot..hotter than my previous powerbook.

The highes temp I registered was 81C.

i noticed my macbook getting really hot but the fan does not kick in when the heat is really high. anybody knows when or at what temp does the fan start? btw how do you check the temp? tia

Try CoreDuoTemp... It's the one I'm using.

I don't think TemperatureMonitor works with MacIntels. You will still need a kernel extension like SpeedIt to make it recognize the temp probes of the new MacBooks/Pros. CoreDuoTemp has the kernel extension built right in it when you install it.
