    Default iOS 4.3 update to allow iPhones to act as MiFi

    With the release of the Verizon iPhone which is capable of becoming a personal hotspot which can share its 3G connection to five devices, a rumor says it's coming to the rest of the iPhones through a software update.

    Will FaceTime over 3G be next? Because it's weird when the iPhone beside you can do FaceTime by connecting to your mobile hotspot, but you can't.

    It is puzzling why Apple holds out on features other phones have had for years. My Nokia N78 has been sharing 3G over wifi as well as GPS over Bluetooth. It does it so well my iPod Touch thinks it's an iPhone.

    In the many years I have known Apple and its design philosophy, I have arrived at these hypotheses:

    1. Apple won't add the feature if they can't do it well (like it crashes OS X or iOS);

    2. If the designers believe that not many people care for the feature anyway;

    3. If Apple can't agree with the feature developer (these features are patented and copyrighted after all) or if the feature seeks access to the 'secret libraries' of OS X or iOS.

    Ok but it's good feature for us who choose not to jailbreak our iPhones.

    The only question now is will users mind that their iPhones get hot while using this feature? It'll be working overtime due to having to get signal and transmit it as well, since thats what I saw while using an Android phone as a hotspot and with my MiFi That might give it's battery a beating being hot all the time.

    it's a good update BUT......

    i'm struggling to keep the connection stable on my phone, how much more if i will connect a couple of devices to share connectivity. on the positive side, this would be a good backup in case an outage happens
