I was reading an article that identified the Taiwanese subcontractors producing the Mac mini (Foxconn/Hon Hai) and the iPod shuffle (Asustek). In the table listing the different Apple products being manufactured in Taiwan, there's an entry for the iBook G5 (Asustek) and the PowerBook G5 (Quanta), due in 2Q 2005.
yep, these companies build everything for major PC brands as well as network equipment suppliers. Taiwan's manufacturing process for computers and electronics is second to none. Someone told me that Taiwan is also the 2nd largest investor in China. Foxconn is supposed to be the biggest of these guys and its privately held. The owner is said to be one of the richest guys in the world.
