I think so. I know of someone who got an ear infection because of either the in-ear or the bud phones. Just not sure which one though,

Here's an artist that may prove that using earphones and similar devices could cause hearing loss.

Its also because of prolonged use of them. People didnt use portable music players for extended periods in the past.mostly just for exercising. But with battery life getting better and the protability of the devices, people are using headphones more and more.
