Maybe it is a 17 inch Apple LCD Display with its box ??
True, Tom. Come to think of it, the box of the new monitors look exactly like that. To be honest, I was disappointed when I saw that pic, so I'd be glad if this pic rumor turns out to be untrue. :P
Looks nice, actually, but it's too predictable for Apple to go with the idea. IBM and a couple of other computer makers have done that, with less than stellar results, sales-wise. Let's hope that the G5 iMac is as much of a surprise, design-wise, as the previous two generations were.
The second shot posted on the French Mac site shows a little bit more of the back -- it doesn't look like it's one of the new Cinema displays.
Maybe the new iMac G5 will deploy and tuck into itself magically, thus making itself relatively portable !! (Like the KayPro ???)
Can we spin this thread to make it an "I Wish the iMac G5 would be" and why ?? Pictures/sketches/drawings too !!!
If OK with Snr. Adel, ...May i start ... I wish the iMac G5 would be one that will deploy and tuck into itself magically, thus making itself relatively portable, with an LCD screen that is optional so that we can all finally afford the G5 CPU and choose our own inexpensive LCD or CRT.........there !
Hmm. Do you suppose it has the general idea of the 20th Anniversary Mac--you know--the one Alfred used in one of the Batman movies? Maybe the CPU is behind the monitor, then the CD is a slot on the right side (not shown). Sounds exciting, if you ask me!
do you guys think apple will soon release a g5 chip portable? if yes, do you have any idea when? im planning of upgrading my ibook g4 to a powerbook g4, but im having second thoughts as to when to upgrade...
Maybe, just maybe, it'll be launched during MacWorld 2005 in January.

The guy who produced those 'stolen' shots of the next-generation iMac inside a Paris elevator admitted that he stuffed an old LaCie 20" LCD monitor in an Apple box.
