Default The book Steve Jobs banned

I finished reading the book that Steve Jobs banned from all Apple stories -- "iCon Steve Jobs: The Greatest Second Act in the History of Business." It was a good read (think Pirates of Silicon Valley). I don't know why Jobs imposed a ban on publisher, Wiley. Yeah, he was portrayed as a megalomaniac, con-man at the beginning but there was true vindication at the end of the book. As a literary form - it's a comedy not a tragedy -- i.e., it had a happy ending. (And with Disney's recent purchase of Pixar, a rousing third act is likely to be written up).

Being CEO of two important companies and and being an influential media figure that he is, I could understand why he would not appreciate being painted as a con-man or megalomaniac. It could surely affect his credibility despite how much effective a leader he is.

Successfully founding and running some of the most iconic enterprises in modern times would require a bit of megalomania and the skills of a snake oil salesman. Part of the territory I think.

Besides, if Steve Jobs really is a megalomaniac/con-man, he wouldn't want to be exposed in his own temples of worship right?
