Apple Genius
Apple secretly developing new palmtop mac?!
Read all about it here:

"Deep in the Apple cave these slim little mini pocketops are doing the rounds and getting a lot of great feedback".
I personally think that the PDA is dead, the iPod's biggest threat comes from converged phone/camera/mp3 devices/pda devices.

Yeah I agree! This day and age I would no longer buy a PDA without a phone and camera built-in. Then again re: the iPod, I wouldn't want mine to be so complicated, like a jack-off-all trades though. I like it being just a music player.

personally i still believe in the potential of the PDA but not as it currently coming along... "jack of all trades, master of none" i.e. mediocre camera, mp3 player etc...
(i don't have one right now that does this but from what i have observed so other current pda users can rebuke this statement)
i am actually looking for a 2nd hand Palm IIIe purely for reading articles and taking some on the fly notes as i used to before mine broke
i would love to see apple innovate and simplify it as they did with the ipod as a music player/ storage device and of course as they always do make it aesthetically attractive

I agree with onefilipino that any device that tries to be all-in-one but does not have the essential features is not going to work out. For example, I had flash mp3 players before that were less than 512mb or did not have a good sync software - waste of money. The vga camera on my cellphone - waste of money (3 mp with autofocusing zoom lens and good flash and 128mb memory is minimum). PDA with keyboard. Loadable gaming machine with analog joystick. Wireless internet.... Battery life in days....
Sooner or later, someone will meet my minimum device specs and that would be compelling. But I have to admit that the idea of merging a mobile phone with an iPod is very attractive. This Powerbook Mini should at least be pocketable with phone capability.

Before my PB I was using a Sony Vaio PCG-U1. I wish Apple would develop something similar. The Vaio had a great screen, ran XP Pro, & had all the necessary ports (although some would consider it neutered since it needed an external optical drive). It was a bit underpowered though. If we had something that size using a G4 & running OS X then that would be sweet. Of course, the Vaio U-series has come up with newer models since the U1 & the form factor of the U3 or the U50/U71 are also very much desired.
