    Default All carbon fiber Powerbooks

I read over at Mac OS Rumors that the Powerbook G5 may feature an all carbon fiber casing. The advantage of using carbon fiber would be it being very light weight and better thermal properties. Sony has been using it for their VAIO PCG-X505 laptop line with obscenely stunning results. I've seen unpainted carbon fiber car parts and I think it would look great as an enclosure similiar to the brushed metal look. Ultraportables here I come!

carbon fiber is not only light and is good for thermal heat dissipation but is also very durable. Which is good if you drop it accidentally no doubt.

...but if its innards aren't as durable, you'd be stuck with an insanely great doorstop. :drunk:

    hehehe... most likely

maybe future mac's should have some sort of cushionning or buffer zone in between the case and the MoBo to limit it from being damaged when dropped :2cents:

So from Titanium "Tibook" to Aluminum "Albook" now to Carbon Fiber "Carbfibook"?! Naku we will have to think of a cooler name if this becomes real.

Carbook? Are you reffering to a car or carbohydrates?

Kidding aside items made out of carbon fiber are normally reffered to as CF but a CFbook would add to confusion as compact flash cards are also reffered as CF (cards).

    Aw, crap.

Hate to say this about a PC, but this Vaio X505 is one beautiful machine.

Sony has always been one of the few with style and substance from the other side. I own an original 505 and I still admire it up to now.

I guess, for once, someone else other than Steve and Jonathan has upped the bar. Let's wait and see for the Cupertino response.
