text-speak is where people intentionally remove letters or replace syllables in a word to make it shorter... and taglish is using english and filipino words on the same statement...

interesting question, that never crossed my mind as far as PhilMUG is concerned.

if you remain careful, you should be safe from infiltrators (if any) scouring PhilMUG for prospective victims. unless you deem it safe, never give out your home address and agree to meet up with stranger muggers in public places (for selling/buying stuff, for instance). neither should you give out specific info as regards your vehicle (reminds me of a story here...)

the above is good practice not only good for PhilMUG or online forums, but for all internet activity in general. keep safe guys.

OT rant: this reminds me of my own experience: i decided to meet with a mugger at his/her house sometime ago, as i was buying an apple 'goody'. after going through really cramped and poorly lit roads in the area, i was disappointed to see that product was scratched up and used, contrary to the claim that it was brand new. of course i declined to get it. :-\

lesson: caveat emptor. ideal: truth in advertising, even in PhilMUg please.

Technically speaking, maybe, but taglish would be more like "na-confuse lang ako" Text speak ang naguluhan lang me, because it's a shortcut, and is like born out of texting.

anyway, ang tinatanong ko lang po ay "NAGUGULUHAN LANG ME?"

and nasabihan na ako agad na textspeak po ang ginamit ko? which i know is taglish...

sorry po mga sir ha, i'm just trying to explain yung tama at naayon sa napagkasunduan...

i don't like the feeling na magkakampihan pa kayo sa small things which is irrelevant...

I concur. Let me elaborate on the shortcut, which actually classifies it as textspeak.

Back in the old days, before the advent of QWERTY keypads in phones, typing ME in the phone requires tapping just two buttons as opposed to tapping on 3 with AKO.

It really is textspeak more than it is taglish.

    Moderators,

kung ang paguusapan sa topic na ito ay textspeak siguro mas mabuting i merge niyo na lang ulit ito kasi out of topic na ang ngyayari at hindi na naipapaliwanag ang topic.

looks like the discussion took a sour turn, as i was posting my last message. some folks here should take it easy, and not push the envelope. IMHO.

@dandy0510, hindi kami nagkakampihan. we're actually correcting you on what is text speak and what is not. You should be aware that you have a wrong concept of taglish - and the fact that you don't know the difference makes you more clueless that you violate our TEXT SPEAK policy.
