I was able to read about that too. This is exciting. With these booming competition, this will probably benefit the consumers. Looking at the features of the Windows Phone 7, there are still a lot of limitations. I hope Windows will try to improve it soon.

i haven't tried one yet, but judging by its interface, it seems like an entertainment device first, a phone second. on pure telephony UI alone, i'd say that WM7 and iOS are on opposite ends, with android right smack in the middle.

as an overall smartphone, here's what engadget has to say:

From the current crop of OSes, Windows Phone 7 is closer to iOS than Android. It takes the “just works” approach and it’s Microsoft that dictates the major decisions about the OS. Android is more decentralized, and if you know what you’re doing, can be tuned and transformed to the user’s (or maker’s) taste.

Ads for the windows 7 phone

write up plus the ads that Microsoft is running for Windows 7 Phone.

Think they are missing something here. MS is trashing smartphone users, but the new MS phones are going to be smartphones, so are they trashing themselves?

One can only hope that their new product will be better than the ads.

I've watched the ads. It's funny how they contradict themselves. I sure hope they can live up with their mantra. If they weren't able to do that, it's just another commercial that lives within the realms of imagination and nothing more.

Yeah, Steve Ballmer is a Visionary. Just like what he said in 2005 that Google might disappear in 5 years. Just reverse what he's saying and it will be the truth.

Kidding aside, it's good that Microsoft had standardize their specification for all their handsets. All working at 1GHz processor and a 480x800 resolution. This would encourage hardware manufacturers to develop faster processors for future handsets. Maybe in the future, you just have to buy a "no OS phone" and install any OS of your choice like Symbian^3, Android or WP7.

it's funny they also did not include 'copy + paste' on their launch.

what I really like (and looking forward to maybe using) is the integration of MS Apps I use a lot at work (i.e. sharepoint, outlook and OneNote..looking for a nice app that can sync my OneNote to my iPhone). I might give it a try (go back to using WinMo) for just these apps.
