    Default Shipping Stuff...

I'm quite new at this whole shipping from the states thing.

    Long story short:

What are my options if i want to order something that does not ship to the phils?
is myUSmailbox any good? any other options to consider? And was wondering,
i read about the whole JAC partnership, if i use JAC, how does that work?

First, call Johnny Air Cargo's Manila office at 8124702/8137227 and look for either Aura Black or Leiden Godinez. Tell them you want to open a mail-forwarding account. They'll ask you for the required information and give you a New York address to send your packages to.

When you order something online, have them ship it to that New York address. When JAC receives the package, they'll automatically forward here. You pay for the shipping when you pick up the package. I highly recommend their service because the rates are reasonable and you don't need to worry about customs duties.

I used to use myUSmailbox but stopped after I discovered JAC because myUSmailbox rates were about double those of JAC. It's been a couple of years since I stopped using them so I don't know if their rates are more competitive now.

    Partick,

Can you give us an example of a thing you bought and the charges you had to pay to JAC? I would really appreciate it

Now that Johnny Air Cargo option sounds great! It sure would save me several steps when buying from Levenger!

    Thanks for that tip.

How about if you want to bring boxes and boxes of stuff from Manila to the US? How does it work?

If it helps any, Johnny Air is very reliable: My friend once had them ship a 2 or 3 carat loose diamond from the US that he had purchased online for wedding proposal fodder. He ended up not liking the stone enough when it finally arrived and sent it back the same way. No untoward incidents or unexpected extra cash outs were had.

@dementia, I've shipped everything from books, to DVDs, to computer parts, to video games. The rate I pay is around $5.50/lb then a $5 handling fee per shipment (if several packages arrive in one delivery, they'll just charge you $5 for the whole lot). I pay about $10.50 for 2-3 regular DVDs.

@kaffee, I pick up all my packages from their Megamall branch
