Nice P&S camera - recommendations please
Hi folks,
I'm looking for a Point and Shoot cam for my daughter (College age, knows how to shoot already). Is there a nice one available at about 10-15K that makes nice images?
If its up to me, I'd buy here a Lumix LX3 or Olympus Pen, but the budget isn't there.
Thanks in advance!

Randy, Can you give us more details please as to the type of shots she likes to take, situations where/when she will take it, does she prefer portability vs image quality? etc... That way we can be guided accordingly by the criterias she will set
Exposure to the SON will keep us from getting burned.

Re: Nice P&S camera - recommendations please
Good Morning Randy,
I understand your concern regarding the allotted budget for your daughter's point and shoot, here are just my 2 cents:
If you are going to give her a simple point and shoot and let us say she got mature with it and finally wonder how to shoot manually, there are no more options for her for to learn the skill if the camera purchased has no features in shooting manually (Depends on the camera to be bought).
My advice is why not spend a little more, the LX3's are cheaper nowadays, the LX3's quality in shooting automatically is superior to other P&S camera's, and if she wants to learn to shoot manually the LX3 has the feature to do so (ISO setting, Aperture, Shutter), for me it's more bang for the buck.
I recently bought my GF's LX3 for only 19,000! and I enrolled her in a Basic Photography class and finally she understood the three impt. aspects of having a perfect exposure, in her class she was the only one using a prosumer camera and out of 30+ students she won 10th place (not bad)!
Just my 2 cents.
I don't know how to sing, I just know how to Rock N' Roll!
