thanks kaffee, but i wasn't asking if the "surgery" will void the warranty. i know it will. rather, i wondered if he'd choose to void it.

@skinhead, imHo it doesn't matter who does the modification, doing this will void your warranty (i'm assuming of course, that it hasn't lapsed). but i'm sure you can get away with it if you have a friendly apple technician willing to bend the rules.

IMO it will not void your warranty since they (apple technician) will do it, when problem arise they will be the one who will also fix it...

or just to be safe, better remove it before going to a service center..
