    Hey girls!

iBug and I have a common passion: crafts. I'm into cross-stitch and knitting (How manang! ). Sharon and I get all hyper-ventilate-y about craft-related software, books, patterns, designers, etc.

Anyone out there who has a passion for things you can do with your hands? Share your craft hobby and resources here.

Well, the reason for the HYPERVENTILATING is... STITCH LUSTING!!!. You can convert your pictures into stitches! But I don't cross stitch. But I have an idea!!! Sana meron pang peyote stitch na beading.

Does candle making fall into the same category? :P
I got into it about 2 years ago i think. I wanted to give out scented candles as gifts to friends but found them to be too expensive in retail stores. So i figured why not make them myself.

A lot of care should be taken when making them though. Getting hot wax on your skin isn't really a wonderful experience (unless you're into that ), not to mention you might end up burning your house down. Ouch!

I want to try making my own soap too. Those natural/herbal stuff

i do crafts too, but not recently...i miss the days i used to rummage through our library of craftbooks just for something to do... papermaking, crochet (i used to crochet a lot!!), dollmaking, you name it. er, i'm not saying the stuff i made LOOKED good tho, wahahaha. (ok, maybe some)

last christmas my friends and i decorated some boxes and stuffed them with cookies, selling them to friends and family. do i sense another ladies' night coming?

    Hi Kris,

I make soap for a living. It's a lot more dangerous than making candles if you're not careful. You need to wear protective clothing, thick rubber gloves and face shield. Getting the major component, lye, in your eyes or skin is terribly nasty.

But using the finished product is wonderful! Let's talk shop at eb's.

    bok,

you're right! lye in your eye is an ocular emergency! it's an alkali that can actually eat through your cornea and give you and guys like me one hell of a problem.

    ingat ka!

ack! crafts? am pitiful at needlework. couldn't even finish my own crochet project in grade school. i'd loop da loops but they'd unravel after just a few. i remember my mom at my desk finishing my project to beat the deadline while i just stared

in high school went through a cork message board stage: decorated cork cut-outs with multi-colored felt tip pens, glued them on to illustrator board i covered with felt. churned out my lifetime's quota as gifts to friends, christmas giveaways for family, etc.

tried my hand at calligraphy, could not copy the examples in the stylebook so just made up my own style. enough to do the envelopes for some of my friends' weddings. now laser printers have taken over.

Cool! Ok that got me excited!

I know what you mean about the lye. We use that for cleaning jewelry as well. I think we had to get a permit pa so we can actually buy lye.

Thanks for the warning though and i can't wait to talk about soap making.
