Default PhilMUG Ladies\' Choice iTunes Playlist

    Hello ladies,

I'm currently doing a compilation CD of tunes recorded by female artists that I intend to give away to female friends and acquaintances in the near future. You know, that give the gift of music sort of thing. As I'm recording it as something playable by most CD players and on AIFF format, I got room for about 20 to 25 songs per CD. What tunes would you recommend? It doesn't have to very new or very old--just great songs that girls would appreciate. Any reply would be greatly appreciated. Thanks in advance.

edwin, wouldn't distributing a cd compilation (even if you distribute it for free) be a violation of applicable copyright laws?

Sorry, my bad. I didn't quite mean it that way. Don't mean any trouble. Okay, I'll just make the compilation for my own personal use. I guess that's okay. right? I'm just interested in what tunes or music the ladies would recommend, that's all.

Just to get this out of the way and with the moderators' kind indulgence, let me answer the concerns of dominquejames and Revenant.

My short answer would be not necessarily. I think anybody can make a CD compilation of legally-acquired tunes and give it away to one person for as long as you don't keep a copy of each of the songs compiled after you have given them away. That means that if I buy about 25 songs (if they're unfortunately not free downloads) from iTMS, then encode them in AIFF and compile them in a CD, I would only transfer my legal rights to those songs and not exactly "share" them when I later delete them from my hard drive since I am not keeping copies of those music for myself after I gave them away.

Then if I wanted to give more compilation CD's to other friends, then I would have to legally re-acquire them and delete them again each time I transfer my legal rights to those songs. :2cents:

Now that wouldn't be engaging in piracy at all. My apologies nonetheless for not having made myself clear the frist time out.

so that means the 25 songs from ITMS would cost $24.75 (if all of them are not free). At an exchange rate of P56:$1, that means the cost of the CD compilation would be P1,386 just for the songs alone.

wow, that's a very expensive gift!

    and that's just one CD.

Ooooookay. Hold yer horses there everyone.

I'm no lawyer here. I have very superficial knowledge of copyright laws.

    Let's get back on track.

Jughead wants to know what ladies like to hear from fellow ladies. Ladies, answer if you wish. Jughead, I get what you want to know.

To those who want to discuss the copyright infringement issue, I would like to suggest that you start a thread on iMusic about it. Thanks guys!

I'm amazed at the level of respect people have here for copyright law. Most people would just shrug it off.

Tsong, ok na sana at nag-sori ka na, bumwelta ka pa at nagisip ka ng katwiran, eh kung ganon bakit ka pa nag-sori in the first place. Clear naman yung sinabi mo first time out, dehins naman malabo. Kung bibili ka ng song, pamimigay mo tapos buburahim mo din di dinadapat mo sanabi na sori at gagawin mo na lang for personal use di ba. Lalong lumabo. Sori dre, being honest lang tayo ha nothing personal. Naguguluhan lang ako sa yo. Peace bro.

I don't appreciate using the ladies' forum as a venue for this. There was a topic at hand here. I've politely asked that this discussion be held elsewhere.

    Move!
