Malaki budget mo? Give her a 70-200 2.8 VR.

Seriously, the Sandisk Firewire Imagemate is a good gift suggestion for a photographer (if she doesn't have one yet). Or how about an Optech Pro Strap? A lowepro pack or a crumpler photo-laptop bag?

Enroll her in one of Dominique James classes in PCCI - then pose for her after she's done with her class.

I'm using a 52 in 1 card reader/writer (xd cards, sd cards, memory sticks, MMC, Microdrives, etc.) made by Speedcom (Taiwan made)- USB 2.0. So far never had any problems. Using it for reading CF cards to transfer images to iPhoto archive. Got it for P500 from one of those computer stalls in Greenhills. Usually they sell it from a high of P800 to P500.

Start her birthday with a treat.
    Flowers at work.
Spa session on a nice reputable spa.
Then have a photo shoot of you and her.
Then end the evening with a candle light dinner with a live quartet.

This will definitely be more meaningful than any gadget you will give.
    Good Luck...

Ooh the surprise photo shoot sounds good! Speaking as a gurl, if you can't give her something really special like jewelry or an iPod (hee), a simple yet uber memorable day with you will do it. Take her to Sonya's Garden in Tagaytay or even to Enchanted Kingdom for a funfunfun time that's sure to make her forget about turning a year older!
