Waxing experience depends on the person who does the waxing. I've tried both hot and cold Brazilian waxing, and either is good depending on the area and the time of the month (remember that before you get your monthly visitor some areas are more sensitive).

Lay Bare cold waxing is great because it's really cheap compared to other salons, but you get a hit or miss with the technicians (are they called that?)- some are really good, meaning they minimize the pain with their techniques, but some are really, really brusque and heavy with their hands. As for hot waxing, I tried Piandre and again, it was a hit or miss with the technician- one was great, the other left behind stubble and I had to redo it at home with tweezers.

My point- ask around for referrals on who should do the waxing job at any salon.

it actually depends on your pain tolerance.. I usually use "Relax & Wax No Scream Cream" 45 minutes prior to waxing.. it doesn't completely ease the pain or the lingering discomfort after but it does dull it and make the waxing more comfortable. for me, it does take the edge off

hmm.. i personally don't have any experience with regards to waxing, but my gf has tried both hot and cold. For her, cold wax is very un-hygenic and takes longer compared with hot wax. She tried cold wax in laybare, but she prefers the hot wax in forever flawless.

I have tried both hot and cold wax but since I visited Lay Bare, I became a fan of cold wax In my observation, both waxing techniques have their own advantages and disadvantages. In hot waxing method the wax adheres better to hairs, especially to shorter hairs. But cold wax doesn’t adhere that well to the hair shafts. In terms of cleanliness cold waxing methods is less messy as compared to hot waxing.

Aside from that, I have a friend of mine who had an accident in using hot wax. She now has scarred arms because of an accident in the salon, the medical expenses were shouldered by the salon, however, the scar will forever be a reminder of a hot wax nightmare!

i don't normally kiss and tell, but girls can keep a secret, right?!

anyway, i did it for the first time.

i had to dress the part kasi for ironman.

actually, i depilated my left, then had my right warm waxed--you know, just so i know which one makes for a better rite of passage.

next big race, i'll try it cold.

men are such sissies for not trying it.

I've been lucky enough not to have had a traumatic experience when I tried B-wax the very frist time at Laybare. Been a loyal patron since late 2008.

The trick that works for me is popping mefenamic acid 30 minutes before having my session. Not pain-free but definitely less painful

Are you sure it's your 'friend' asking? Haha don't be shy!

My girlfriend and I go to Laybare as well and find it much tolerable than we expected. Don't expect it to be what you would see on youtube -- that's hot wax. Just take ibrupofen half an hour or an hour before and you'll be fine.
