Problem with .avi files?
Guys, anyone encounter this problem? I was editing a project in Final Cut, then rendered and exported it as an .avi file. Video was long, about an hour and a half so it took about 2 hours to export (Video- Avi at DV PAL, High, Interlaced, 4:3; Audio- 48khz, Stereo).
When I viewed the .avi file, only ten minutes of the entire video came out. I repeated process, took another two hours, same result. What a waste of time. :dead:
Could this be a Quicktime problem or a Final Cut issue?

strangely, im also encountering the same problems with some .avi files playing only a fraction in qt7pro (only 2 minutes of 15), but the file plays in full in mplayer/vlc... must be a quicktime prob.

What a hassle. I wonder if the new Quicktime update solves this.

Problem with .avi files?
i have a different problem... if i play a .avi file(movie, video, naruto episode) on qt, vlc, or realplayer, we don't see any pic/frame.
on vlc, it says "computer too slow" ???
on real and qt, we only hear sounds no video... for... 10secs?
any thoughts?
TIA!
PS: we have encountered this problem on an imac g3 DV 400Mhz.

those are symptoms of not having the appropriate codecs for the avi files, which are encoded in many different "flavours" despite having the same extension. you might be able to find out what was used to encode it with the info window (command + i from within the active movie) and hunt down the mac compatible codec from the web.

unfortunately, i only have internet access in our office and the imac is our home mac... would you mind suggesting some codec/s? PLEASE???
PS: sorry but broadband internet is yet to come in our vicinity. please understand.
