intro in video editing
hi video editing masters! i am trying to make a simple video. my materials are from an mpeg file (i extracted them from vcd). i imported one file in iMovie but there was no sound/audio when i played it. i don't really know what to do coz i am really new in video editing. help please!!!

hmm...thats the thing with vcd/ mepg1 encoded stuff. you cant extract or edit the audio.

did you try extracting the audio from the video you imported in iMovie? Sometimes that magically brings back the audio.

I suggest you encode the vcd/mpeg file into a more editable file such as Quicktime DV.

hey m not much of an editor but if you have a copy of compressor or cleaner 6 use that to convert the mpeg1 to a quicktime dv or better yet make a dub of your vcd to a dv tape and capture through dv. you could try dvdxdv or cinematize to extract the mpeg files. technically, mpeg files are not editable. there are also a couple of other softwares that could do the job. goodluck.
