Improved commercial DVD-ROM support for Macs!
Doesn't it tick you off that some commercial DVDs have additional DVD-ROM content but it says on the liner notes on the back that the content doesn't support the Mac? And to add insult to injury, the ones that do have Mac compatibility are incredibly and notoriously buggy.
Well, this may help. Interactual has released a improved player that allows us to access the extra material with less errors. Get InterActual Player for Macintosh version 1.4 here.
Unfortunately, it only works on DVDs that have Mac support already. We're not that lucky.
From the Read Me:
System Requirements
- Mac OS X version 10.3 (Panther) or Mac OS X 10.2 (Jaguar). More recent versions of Mac OS X will require an update. Please visit http://support.interactual.com for information on updates.
- Power Mac G3, G4 or G5, iMac, eMac, PowerBook G3 or G4, or iBook computer with 128MB of physical RAM.
- A DVD-ROM equipped Macintosh with built-in FireWire.
- Safari (1.1 or higher).
- Please note: external DVD drives, the original PowerBook G3 and processor upgrade cards are not supported.
In order to use this software, your Macintosh must already be able to play back DVDs using the built in Apple DVD Player. The InterActual Player will not add DVD playback capabilities to systems that do not currently support it.
DVDs Supported
This version of the player will only load the DVD-ROM content from DVD titles that have specialized Macintosh content. A list of these DVDs is maintained on InterActual's Support Website (http://support.interactual.com/).
You can use the InterActual Player to play other DVDs, but any (PC-only) ROM content will not be loaded.
