iDVD freezes while asset encoding...
Hi guys, was hoping you could help me out with a problem. I recently finished a 15 minute video project on Final Cut Pro 4, working on a Powerbook with 80gig HD, 1gig RAM, and an external Maxtor 250gig hard drive. Project file was saved on boot drive, while all timecode based footage (captured stuff) was saved on the Maxtor. I converted the Final Cut project to a Quicktime movie which I then used to create a project on iDVD. All worked out well, except that when 'Stage 3: Asset Encoding' started, the program just quit with the message "the program iDVD has unexpectedly quit..." Tried a few more times, same thing. I even dubbed a minidv copy and redid project via iMovie --> iDVD route, but still the same problem. Anyone ever encounter anything like this? One person from another forum said to 'trash the prefs', but I don't know what that meant.

Look for com.apple.iDVD.plist in Home > Library > Preferences and delete it.

In trashing this preference, what essentially happens? Sorry to sound confused, but just want to make sure I know what purpose trashing this preference does before I actually do it.

iDVD reverts to its default settings and creates a new plist file the next time you run it.
