Default Final Cut Pro: General Error (48)

anybody here have experienced this error?

i have a still image, jpeg, on the time line.
everytime i render for previewing the motion of the image, it won't continue its rendering then comes this dialogue box "General Error (48)".

    any solution for this?

Dont know if you've seen this already:

This is actually an OS X (not FCP) error and according to this Apple Support topic error 48 is described as “Duplicate filename (rename); File found instead of folder.”

There are not many Internet references to error 48 but some suggest deleting SWF files and/or trashing Preferences. Neither of these worked for me.

    Some things to try:

Ensure you have enough free disk space on the render and autosave volumes
Ensure you have sufficient file permissions to all FCP folders
View project XML in a text editor and ensure file paths are correct

My first instinct on this is that the file has a color profile that is not compatible - I think this has happened to me before.

You can test this by making another file using the NTSC -DV preset, then cut-paste the problematic JPEG file into that. This new file will look the same and ensures that the file has a compatible codec/color profile. Of course, you may have a JPEG file that is much larger than NTSC-DV, but this is just for testing.

Another thing is that the JPEG file is too large - could that be it? This crashed on me also before.

or maybe you have malformed JPEG file...just guessing...try removing the EXIF metadata and see if the error persists...

nope, there is nothing wrong in the jpegs whether it has a EXIF metadata or none of it. it does not matter.

    thanks guys.
