    Default Final Crash Pro?

The Final Cut Pro HD installed on my workstation quit on me twice today. I normally channel all my saving and rendering on the Xserve. (Which makes it easier for my system disk). I didn't have more than three video layers on my edit with basically green-screen segments composited on background. Good thing I was able to save my changes before it crashed.
This is the third time it happened to me. The other incident was when I did the Nestle Fresh milk ad (the one you see airing on tv nowadays). Same thing. Two layers of title composites.

Am not sure if it's a bug. I'm not giving up on this software. In fact, I already asked our IT dept to get the FCP 5 upgrade.

How are you connected to your Xserve? I assume that you have Xsan and the fibre channel switch installed?

The Xserve RAID is connected directly to the G5. About the capture card, I am using the AJA Kona 2.

do a "safe boot" & run repair permissions on your boot drive.
(useful especially when your mac takes longer than 30 sec to shutdown after a crash) when done restart your computer —

    then trash FCP preferences
    –>Users/[your user name]/Library/Preferences
    "com.apple.FinalCutPro.plist"
    –>Final Cut Pro User Data
    "Final Cut Pro 4.5 Preferences"
    "Final Cut Pro POA Cache"

you will lose your custom window and button arrangement, favorite effects, motion, transitions, etc. remember also your kona 2 preset before trashing the prefs, just set it back to your old working preset.
