Default Encoding to Windows Media on Mac OS X?

    Hi Muggers,

I may need to re-encode/convert QuickTime Movies to Windows Media as an alternative format to QuickTime samples on my web site. Is there software available for Mac OS X that could do this convertion direct?

    Thanks in advance.

Discreet Cleaner 6 for Mac says it can do the job, but from experience, it's not worth the expense if that's all you're going to use it for. Do yourself a favor and grab a low-end Windows PC with the latest version of QuickTime for Windows installed, download and install the free Windows Media Encoder, and perform the conversion on that setup. I use a 667Mhz Celeron to convert my MP3's to WMA (using the command-line WMA converter) for use in my old digital music player (now my son's) that holds twice as many WMA files as MP3's. The same rig will easily convert QT to WMV, and save you some serious cash.

Thanks for the tip Gonz! I will look into that. Currently only have a Pentium 166 (you read correctly) down here which doesn't meet the minimum specs for Media Encoder.

    QuickTime only please.

as what my professor at VFS says, let your audience only have 2 choices - QuickTime or nothing.

that way, we help promote/expand QuickTime user-base.

if they want to see your stuff - they will download QT.

sorry for going OT. just can't help it.

There are two things in life that you should do to be successful. 1) Do not share everything you know.
