Default Converting WMV to MPEG or MOV files

I have the BMW movies downloaded into my HDD. How do I convert them to Quicktime files?

I believe one option is Forty-Two DVD-VX Plus 2.4. I think it does this, in addition to other video format conversions in Mac OS X, mostly MPG to AVI - including WMV to AVI, but I can't say for sure as I have never tried it myself. Not also sure if you can transfer directly to MOV, but at least you're a step closer; and there are more options to convert AVIs to MOVs.

    Sadly, not freeware. US$15 shareware.

This one is a little tricky. Tried using ffmpegX the video is present but the audio is gone.

My workaround invovles a PC... using tmpgenc. From there you can convert to mpeg. Then use whatever Mac software you like to convert it to quicktime.

I use MPEG Streamclip to transcode MPEG-1 files to any Quicktime format, with audio intact.

Edit: Oops, didn't notice that the original format was Windows Media Video.
