Default SanDisk CF card reader problems

Bought a SanDisk CF card reader that's firewire at Power Mac Mega Mall for 3,500. Not bad I thought, but apparently I can't get it to work with my G5. It either hangs or forces my mac to restart. Sometimes it even says that transferring a 100mb worth of files would take more than an hour...then hang. Would this be a problem with the reader or is something wrong with my mac? Feedback would be appreciated, thanks folks.

Isolate the problem first. Try a different CF card, then a different card reader. Finally try the reader with a different computer. If the problem still exist maybe the dealer can replace it.

Hi Peter, thanks, I'm bringing it back to Power Mac tomorrow, trying it with their G5. Sana talaga the problem is the reader and not my computer. Hehe.

Btw, the RB is working great!

Thanks Toto, I'll find out tomorrow when I bring it to Mega. Come to think of it, my iPod makes my G5 restart when I plug it into the same firewire port. Aww man...malaki ata problema ko!

Were you able to solve the problem? I bought a 15 in 1 card reader and it said it support MAC OS X.. But I can't have it to work.. Still doing isolation if its the Card Reader..

So Miguel, how did it go? I plan to buy one too hoping that it will hasten the download speed when I transfer photo files from my digicam. Right now I just plug the D70 to the PB and it is just too slow for me. Please enlighten me guys if I am expecting too much. What is your experience with this Toto? TIA.

A USB 2.0 card reader would make a big difference, but the fastest would be the firewire card reader. Nikon says it's USB 2.0 but it's certainly not.

Yup, it ain't USB 2. I use a CF PC card adapter.
