Along with Lynn Goldsmith, Annie Liebovitz and later, Herb Ritts, Richard Avedon is one of the great photographers whose pics graced the pages of Rolling Stone magazine and made it the irreverent read that it is today. He will be missed.

What a sad year for photography, so many of the greats passing on.

Miguel, indeed it is a sad year. However, looking on the bright side, it's time for the younger set of photographers to infuse the industry with their brand of freshness and creativity. The passing of the torch is inevitable.

Jughead, I would include Mark Seliger and David Bailey in the list of top Rolling Stones magazine photographers. I have the 50th Anniversary Of Rock issue. This features the 50 most interesting/best/selected images of rock/music icons by the top photographers. This is one fabulous issue.

Tom, Avedon shot with his twin lens rolleiflex early on in his career. then shifted almost exclusively to 8 X 10 later on when he was doing The American West Series and so on. I have a picture of his equipment cabinet, i just don't know where i put it. Will post when i find the darn thing.

Si irving Penn nalang ang natitira!
