Default recommended storage methods for camera / photo equipment / lenses

I am new to this forum. I just got my 350D a couple of weeks ago, and I am very happy with it. I haven't got any Mac computers yet , but I am interested in getting one sooner or later.

I would like ask how you store your camera equipment (especially lenses) at home when they are not in use. I would like to preserve the good condition of my camera equipment for as long as I can. I am very concerned about dust accumulation and fungus growth. Do you have any recommendations on how should I store them?

I have heard / read some things about dry boxes, dessicants, etc. Are those necessary for proper storage? What alternative materials can I use? From where can I get them?

    Thanks in advance.

You can contact Frank Tsai for Dry box storage options you may need.

Or you can make your own.. buy the silica gel of frank and put your
photo stuff in a sealed plastic case/box with the silica gel pack inside, if you want to
go a step further, you can buy a hygrometer from those cigar shops
and install them your plastic case or box.

Some people like to put small light bulbs and turn it on when moisture goes up
inside their cabinets instead of using silica gel or dry boxes to keep the moisture at bay.

buy a good camera bag like domke. stuff it with big silica gel bags, you can find it in watsons in quiapo. but you should clean the ccd if you know how. dust going into the ccd is sometimes unavoidable
