    Default Proposal: Photo Trip 4

I badly wanted to go to 3, but a flu kept me at home. I propose to you guys a 4th Photo Trip...

... to Gumaca, Quezon. It's far, about 4 hours drive. It's the halfway point from Manila to Bicol. What's intersting is that the coastal towns of Quezon are known to have really old fortresses that were built in the early Spanish colonization days. The fortresses protected the towns from their gravest threat then: Pirates.

Two particular sea-side "fortresses" are popular: Kutang San Diego and San Diego de Alcala Fortress. The latter is a "national treasure" and was labeled such in 1981.

Aside from the great photo ops, I'm sure we'd appreciate the history lessons as well.

I know this sounds like a far-off plan, but how about an overnighter say around July? What say you guys and gals?

Check out http://www.globalpinoy.com/travel/province/quezon.php for more info.

    Hey Nono!

I'd be interested in this...when in July though? I'll be back from the UK around mid-July, July 18 to be exact. And been wanting to do some travel photography in the Philippines for an upcoming project proposal for the British Council. This place in Quezon sounds intriguing. If the dates are right I most probably can join you.

    Cheers!

Afte the last adventure i've had in Quezon, I'd rather stay away for the meantime, considering that rainy season is about to start (it is mildly starting, and the 1st? typhoon - Dante - is threatining to hit us). You know illegally logged trees dont grow that fast in 6 months.

But, if in case this'll be during a sunny day weekend (which I pray it would), I wont mind going. I still am thinking of how to get an "initial-D" layout shot of the dreaded "bitukang manok", if it would be possible.

Mistermoya, no date yet - let's plan it. Maybe we can schedule this towards the latter part of July?

Tantantiniiin, yeah that's one of the major concerns too: rain. Let's see how the weather pans out. This is just a proposal anyway. If we can't do it during the next few months, we can always do it after the rainy season.

    Cheers!

    mmmmm...

    Travel and photography. Da best!

    I WANT! I WANT! I WANT!

I really hope we could find a window sometime in the latter part of July for such a trip. Otherwise, we can always move it. But yes, Nono, that is a great suggestion! If ever, do you already have a place in mind where we could spend the night?

Leslie, I'll ask my brother for suggestions where to stay for the night. He's currently filming a documentary on the seaside fortresses. Di pa niya pinapakita yung video shots, benta na sakin.

I found more info at http://ave-sol.com/HistoricalSites.html

But nono... that's smack in the middle of the UAAP season!

Here's a suggestion: we could stay at our farm overnight since a few of you want to go back.

I can ask my brother to give us a discount.

We're halfway between Gumaca and Manila so it might not be a bad option.

Gabe that is an excellent suggestion. And oo nga pala, that's right smack in the middle of the UAAP season. Well, I guess we can always do this after the UAAP season. :P

Seriously, if we can't do this soon, maybe we can have it around October or November.
