Default Photog switches to Mac, has questions

Hey guys, I'm a working photographer and I took delivery of my G5 just last week. I have a couple of questions though.

    1. Any recommendations for a Firewire CF card reader? Where can I find them and how much do they cost?

    2. For other Fuji S2 Pro users here, where did you get an OS X version of your Hyper-utility software?

    Thanks. Wish I switched earlier

I use the SanDisk Firewire CF card reader also. At about 4thou in Apple Center it's pretty close to the price you'd get it in the US

Any news when Fuji will release the S2 camera shooting software version for Mac OS X or shall we be waiting for the S3 for this to happen where their future release of Hyper-Utility will install and work flawlessly? Are you guys able to configure S2's shooting software to work? If not, are you using any other shooting software that works with the S2 on Mac OS X?

Approximately how long does it take for the Sandisk Firewire Card Reader to transfer a 1 GB CF card?

In my work experience, using a Lexar MultiCard USB 2.0 Reader, the 1 GB of Ridata's 52X/Pro Card takes about 8 minutes to download---definitely much faster, more secure, and an absolutely reliable method of downloading images to the computer compared to the ImageTank G2 which takes about 15 minutes or more to download the same Ridata Card.

i used to use a lexar firewire reader to download files, but after going thru two of them (my brother albert stopped working after 6 months) i got the sandisk reader. Noticed a big difference in download times. the sandisk transfered much faster, will clock it one of these days when i fill up my card.

@ hungryalien, thanks for the link!

doesn't say anything about S2. i have a feeling that dominiquejames might be right in supposing that we might have to wait for the S3 for that dang software upgrade

looks like sandisk leads your choices of cf readers. thanks folks

    Miguel,

The hyper-utility software is at the link that Kai, provided. :-)
    Here are the links:

    Fuji UK

    Fuji International

You will need the original Hyper-utility HS-S2 software CD when you install these upgrades.

If you're looking for the Camera shooting software, it is only supported for Jaguar.
I guess the best solution would be to use a Jaguar bootable Mac for tethered shooting or a PC. :-)

But may I suggest that you use Photoshop CS for converting your RAW files and iView Media Pro for viewing/cataloging/ uploading instead.

    Toto,

Is the firewire card reader faster than a PCMCIA CF card reader?
    Thanks! :-)
