From www.robgalbraith
The D2X will shoot 12.21MP photos at a healthy 5 fps for up to 21 JPEG or 15 RAW NEF frames. While that specification is impressive on its own, Nikon has added a twist: with Hi-Speed Crop mode enabled, the D2X will shoot 6.87 million pixel photos at 8 fps, for up to 39 JPEG or 25 NEF frames.
Cool!

The high speed mode is an interesting move . I'm not sure about a max ISO of 800 though. Seems low.
EDIT: whoops, my bad. there's a 1600 and 3200 setting. here.

Very nice specs, and a handsome camera!
I can't help but have my doubts about the Hi-Speed Crop mode though. from Phil's comments, it seems that there's a box or frame in the viewfinder screen that helps you compose your shots when in that mode. That doesn't sound like something I'd get used to - when I shoot fast action sports, it's already hard enough to keep the subjects in the entire viewfinder! Maybe it's easier in practice than in concept.

Um, is that the reservation fee? Or the cost of the camera? Heck, if the D2X only costs $500, I take back everything bad I ever said about Nikon
