Smile need advice: buying my first camera

Guys need advice, i'm now saving up for my first ever camera.

I've been reading posts/threads about cameras and what i've came across to are the LX5, S95 and the NEX. What are their differences?

Would an LX5/S95/Sony NEX be a good camera, for a first timer? LOL. if not, what can you recommend?
will it also be good enough to be used in school projects- because I'm an advertising management student (though the course is more on the business side, there's still a little bit of photography involved in some of my classes) and is it photoshop friendly - can it handle 300dpi settings in photoshop without getting the image pixelated?

    would really appreciate any suggestions.
    Thanks!

if your school projects requires serious photography, I'd say go for a DSLR - for upgradeability (lenses).

    for portability, LX5.

but be reminded, it's not on the bow and arrow... it's on the archer.

What's your budget? I think you should start with that. The S95 is a very capable camera, but if you have the budget, then go one step further and get a 4/3rds system, like the GF2 or a used GF1. If you have more funds then getting a DSLR would be the best all around solution.

if those 3 are the only options, I'd go for the LX5 all day.

Of the three choices, go NEX system; good for newbies now with room for expansion/upgrade (lenses & accessories) later. Might be a stiff investment now but prices of lenses will probably stabilize in the coming months/years, by which time you'll be more knowlege-able with your photography and be able to squeeze out more out of those lenses.

well as far as budget is concerned - i'm still saving up, so i still don't know. LOL. XD

anyway how much are decent DSLRs today?
is the price difference of the DSLRs from those cameras (S95/LX5/NEX) worth it?
what is a GF2/GF1? sorry I'm new to this.

I'm also thinking of buying a new camera to replace my 4 year old exilim. My budget is 20k or less. I've narrowed it down to S95, LX3 and LX5 and googled comparisons between each cameras ( see link below). Unfortunately, I'm also a newbie when it comes to cameras. To the experts please help me out with these questions: What's hotshoe? what's shutter speed, and how does it affect picture clarity? Would also greatly appreciate if you could refer a good photography class for beginners. Thanks muggers.

If I were you, scrap LX3 from the list nalang. Hehehe.

Go to the store nalang and check the cameras. Depende rin kasi yan kung "feel" mo yung camera
Although better ang LX5 for macro shots. LX5 also has better battery life.
I'm not too sure if you can buy lenses for S95, unlike the LX5.
