LF: Free Image Retouching Software

I'm looking for good free image retouching software / Photoshop plugins that automatically enhance digital images without manually adjusting image properties. Any suggestions?

I'm not too pleased with iPhoto's enhance feature.

If you are willing to spend some money, i've been happy with FM actions & plugins. Works well with PS7 CS1/2.
