Fuji S3: Firmware Update

To all Fuji S3 owners, a firmware update thru Mac (OS X) has been recently released.

This Firmware (Ver.2.12) update incorporates the following issues:

1) Adds PC control function (needed to update Hyper-Utility Software HS-V2 Ver.3.1).
2) Updates AUTO ROTATE function.
3) Updates the function for AF-S Nikon and AF-VR Nikon lens. (Can be functioned even power switch is on when the lens is attached).
4) Updates the compatibility for high capacity of storage media.

Precautions:

1) If firmware upgrading fails, the camera may no longer operate correctly in some cases. Carefully read the notes provided here.
2) Always use the AC adapter when upgrading the firmware. Never turn the camera off or attempt to use any of the camera controls while the firmware is being overwritten.
3) Firmware upgrading takes approximately 2 minutes.
4) Once the firmware has been upgraded, the previous current cannot be restored.

In addition to the firmware upgrade, there is also what is called the Hyper-Utility Software HS-V2 V.3.1 Updater for Mac OS X.

This Updater updates HS-V2 Ver.2.0, Ver3.0 and Ver.3.1a into HS-V2 Ver.3.1b. This updater contains the following:

(a) Raw file converter EX for FinePix S3 Pro / S2 Pro / S20 Pro / S7000 / S5000 / S5500 / S5100 / F710 / F810 / F700 / E550
(b) Camera shooing software for FinePix S3 Pro* / S2 Pro / S20 Pro

*The FinePix S3 Pro of the serial number (44******,510*****,51A*****,51L*****) needs to be upgraded for this function. Only the user who has CD-ROM "Hyper-Utility Software HS-V2" can use this updater.

How To For Mac OS X (10.3 to 10.3.7) users:

1. Install the “Hyper-Utility Software HS-V2” from your belonging CD-ROM into your computer if it is not installed.
2. Quit “Hyper-Utility Software HS-V2” if it is started.
3. Expand this compressed updater file "V2XE31B.sit" by Stuffit Expander. After decompressing, you will find "V2XE31B" file.
4. Execute this updater software "V2XE31B" to update the above installed software.
