Dark Images with Pixma IP3000
Hi guys, I need help. Three days ago, I went to Megamall and went to the Epson showroom to test their printers. I printed a photo from my laptop connected to an 830 color photo printer and I liked the results. I was looking for a Canon shop that can do the same thing to me but was not able to find one. Anyway, I ended buying a Pixma IP3000 and was hoping that my photos would look good, or better than what I got from the Epson printer. Lo and behold, using the same file that I printed using the epson printer, the one I got using the Pixma is way too dark. Even if I used their supplied 4x6 Cannon Photo Paper Plus Glossy, the images are still too dark. I feel bad about this. Did I make a wrong choice, or is this just a problem with the settings?
Help.....help.

Hi Nap. I just got my Pixma IP3000 last week too and so far so good. Images are printed as they are shown on the display specially ones that were taken from my 10D. Are you printing direct from Photoshop? Are you using the color profile from Photoshop? I am assuming you did an eyeball calibration with your display using the Apple calibration system. Can you post your display setting? What about your printer setting? Are you using BJ or Colorsync on the color selection?

What application did you use to print the image? Photoshop? Perhaps there is an ICC profile for your Pixma and you need to use that.

I was told by the color technician at my univeristy here in the UK that most printer companies can send you color profiels for your printer at a price. We didn't get much time to talk about what he meant, but I think you basically download something form the company's website to use as a comparison then you get sent some color profiles to use for your printer. Or something to that effect...
Does anyone know what he might be talking about?

Hi guys,
After about 5 sheets of A4 photo papers, I was able to print images as displayed in my monitor. It was just a matter of choosing Colorsync in the color options. I was using Nikon Capture Editor to print my RAW files. I haven't tried printing using Photoshop CS, although I pressume all will be well now. I was thinking of selling it na at a loss to get the Epson printer but now I am seeing the light. Go go go PIXMA. Thanks a lot for the replies guys.
