    Default Archiving Data

Im just curious as to how some of you out there archive the thousands of Gigs you have worth of high resolution photos, mp3's, documents etc..

Personally my archiving system is composed of an Excel file which tells me whats on each CD that i burn and each CD is labelled with a certain corresponding code number so that when i run a search in Excel for a certain shoot for example or a certain date the CDR's index number will pop up and il know where to find what i am looking for

now each CD is kept in an individual sleeve and inside one of those air-tight plastic food containers each one of which can hold about 60-70 CD/sleeves upright.. Each sleeve has a label on it with the index number.. i know.. i know.. mejo OC but in the long run its soo much easier with the hundreds of cds i have now..

even more detail into it.. my folders have the format
[RAW] - 02.25.05 NAME OF SHOOT (for the raw files)
[EDIT] - 02.25.05 NAME OF SHOOT (obviously for the edited files)
i always have a copy of the raw stuff just so i can return to them in case the editing goes wrong or i need to do more changes..

life would be easier with a DVDburner but then again who says life is supposed to be easy anyway.. :P

I use CDFinder X. You might like it.

Why not get a DVD burner? I think DVD technology has evolved enough now to actually warrant getting one. Prices have certainly come down. Write speeds are faster (though the DVDR that support these are expensive or hard to come by), still, its only a matter of time. P35 for a 4 gig DVD vs. P11 for a CD, mas sulit don't you think? Less physical storage involved.

    I use a LiteOn SOHW-1653S

    Gastos nanaman, hehehe

You may check also DISKTRACKER 2.3.1!

DiskTracker is a powerful cataloging utility that helps you keep track of your offline files. If you have a number of removable media disks, DiskTracker is ideal. It will maintain a local directory of the files on the removable disks, and you can search for files without actually having to insert the removable media. The search result resembles the view you would see in the Finder.

I have also hundreds of cdrs on my cabinet and it is easy to find every single files! it is the cataloguing application used by the macaddict people! Ive just put a serial number in every cd label for my marking. give a try!
