Newbie questions
Hi, I'm a newbie as regards editing and recording music. First and foremost, i am an ibook g4 owner. First off, i would like to record my own voice along with a minus one track... what programs do i need in order for me to do this and could you give me a step by step process if possible? Next, if i will be playing a keyboard and record also my voice, how will i do it? I will greatly appreciate all your help... thanks guys...

Re: Newbie questions
Hmmm iBook G4 ey.
Ok, first off, use your GarageBand program...
if your minus one track is on an mp3 format, Lay it on a new track...
then make another new track that's "real instrument" and you can then choose the effects you want for your voice like Choir, diva, female or male rock and so on.
With your headsets connected to your iBook and your mic monitor on. Sing directly into your iBook's mic...that little pin hole on the screen to your right. A good 14" distance from the mic would be ok.
iBook's have no "audio in" functionality so with any other instrument you just have to play it infront of your mic. You can always clean out the noise after...though there isnt much to clean cause the iBook's mics are pretty good at picking up audio.
Hope this helps.

Re: Newbie questions
when i make the new track for my voice, can i already play the mp3 minus 1? or are they 2 different tracks?

Re: Newbie questions
First track mp3 minus one
next track voice...
this means while playing the mp3 minus one select the voice track, press record and sing along with the track. remember plug in the earphone so your mic only pics up your voice and not the mp3minus one.
so its two tracks technically. you can then export it to your itunes and turn it into an mp3. Have fun...oh and as soloworx said. share your talent. I have mine posted at GarageBand.com under my band's name.
