Default Midi Instruments at iba pa...

Just curious, since I left Manila last year, I was just wondering how readily available are MIDI equipment have become with the dawn of Garageband and Logic Express Pro? Have brands like M-Audio become available in most Apple resellers or are they still special orders?

Last time I was home, I had to get everything from Hong Kong.

Also, are software synths readily available in Manila also? (hindi pirated ha?) If so, where is a good place to look

    Thanks...

I may be wrong and am only making this response based on my visitations of apple stores in Manila but I have never seen any of them selling midi equipment e.g. midi cable, the midi sport by m-audio that you refer to. I also haven't seen much software also. I've also tried places like perfect pitch and yamaha and other music stores but most of them do not carry anything along those lines. If I remember right, I recall seeing some software at perfect pitch (which is by the way, also owned by the Yupangco's who own Yamaha). Anyway, maybe others might have some input but I haven't seen much. Even stuff like software from Finale or other things like cakewalk software, I've only seen one piece of software at Databiz by Voyetra; a beginner's piano software but other than that, not much. Hopefully, the midi experts at Philmug can give some insight. Anyway, hope this helps.

I do know Apple Center sells Edirol Midi Controllers at least last time I checked when I was home. And most resellers like LMK could get me the equipment but I usually had to wait something like 3 weeks to a month to get it and the prices were sadly very expensive compared to Hong Kong. I could actually fly to Hong Kong for the day and buy the equipment there and ti would still come out the same price.

But finding software like Ableton Live and Reason 3 is what am really interested in. The prices here in the UK are ridiculously inflated because of VAT charges. The Philippines doesn't really have accessible music equipment and software retailers in malls or places like that.

By the way, does anyone know if they sell any analogue synths in Perfect Pitch?
