Re: Mackie's upcoming D4 mixer...
Yes. Have been eyeing the upcoming Mackie d.4 for several weeks now ever since I've read it at Skratchworx during the PLASA 2006 event. It's a natural upgrade (but not practical) from my Numark 2 channel USB mixer which looks like a toy compared to this one. And perfect for using the 4 decks of Traktor 3.
Currently, the Mackie d.2 is locally priced at 56k from Hi-Fi Lounge. Add 20k for the FireWire card. The price alone makes me want to consider a Motu Ultralite with a Kontrol DJ or a Feena FMDJ 9303 instead.
However, no other MIDI controller however mappable can match the intuitiveness, the logical location of the controls with its functions, and the build quality of this d.4 baby right here
Just looking at the picture makes me want to feel the crossfader. I applaud Mackie for finally building a DJ mixer with the d2. The upcoming d.4 should be wicked!
For more info on the current d.2, check out the Mackie on the Mac video with DJ Tone here
